( >.< ) <---- My Face When Eat Kimchi
I'v watched anykind of Korean TV Show and most of them show us anykind of Korean foods. And everytime i watched them, it makes me drool as hell!!
In Korea, when we have some meal, we will served with so many side dishes, like salad leafs, perilla leafs, achovies, garlic, stir-fry vegetable, and kimchi. Kimchi is the famous side-dish in Korea. All Korean people wouldn't eat well if kimchi is not served. So, it makes me curious how's kimchi tastes?
I went to a grocery in downtown to buy some snacks and my needs. When i at fruits and vegetables section, i saw there is some packed kimchi. It's a rare condition, because i live in a small town which had no Korean restaurant and rare to see any Korean stuff. And when i saw this kimchi, it feels like i found a treasure.
In the first time, i picked the large pack. But i re-think that, maybe it's not tasty as i thought because Indonesian tongue are different with Korean. So i picked the smaller one.
I'm so excited to taste the kimchi. So, whent i'm home, i directly open the pack and.... i smell something spicy and sour, of cource because it is a fermented pickle. Then, i get a pair of chopstik (to bring Korean atmosphere, he he he :p) and pick a little piece of kimchi. It looks so reddish, and again the smell is so sour and spicy.
It's the time! I put the kimchi in my mouth and my first expression were like this ( >.< ). The sourness level is really really really really really sour, and litlle bit bitter. Actually, it's under my expectation, because firstly i thought i will taste some sweetness because they made it with some sugar to. Anyway, it tastes like rotten cooked vegetable.
PS: I read at the pakcage that the fresh taste of the kimchi is when it just made. And the delicious taste is about 30 days after, and fermented taste (wich good for cooking) is after 75 days. I thought the one that bought is already over 30 days after (consider how far Korea - Indonesia), so the taste is not really good to ate directly.
